We discovered this amazing gem in the quiet hamlet of El Pilar in the heart of Almeria, Spain last year (2018) & visited it twice as it isn't to be missed! We said last year that we'd love to stay there overnight at some point so the owners, Rachel & Clayton, very kindly took time out of their extremely busy day & showed us around the rooms! WOW!!! They are gorgeous! The attention to detail is fantastic, they are large & bright, but cosy with original features of the old townhouse & have beautiful, sweeping views over the Sierra de Los Filabres - needless to say, all of this cemented our wish to return & stay overnight! The food made fresh daily downstairs by the amazing Chef Amanda in the Restaurante Albar is simply scrumptious,hence our two visits last year! This year, we went three times!! One was our overnight stay with a group of friends & the other two were simply to ride up their through stunning scenery on our motorbikes & to eat the gorgeous food! The welcome we received from Rachel, Clayton & Amanda each & every time we went were fabulous & they can't do enough for you xx Our overnight visit was just what we wanted and more. Many of our friends that came to stay that night, had never been before, so seeing their reactions to the welcome, the location, the interiors, the coffee, the food & the rooms were brilliant to watch!!! We sat outside on arrival out by the pool (now covered over due to the time of year - October - but we have seen it uncovered & it looks very inviting indeed) & relaxed with a variety ice cold beers & lovely wine until getting ready for our evening meal. Everyone came down to eat very refreshed & with nothing but compliments for the rooms & bathrooms, they are all different but finished to an incredibly high standard. Rachel & Clayton took our food orders & the whole ambience the entire time was calm, relaxed & full of fun & the restaurant looked beautiful. The food for all 16 of us was all brought to the table hot & all at the same time (you can watch Amanda cook & i just don't know how she does it, she's amazing!) Needless to say, the evening was a roaring success! Breakfast the next day was discussed regarding time & as it was the Rugby World Cup Final the next morning, Clayton & Amanda agreed to serving it an hour early to accommodate us riding back to the coast to our hotel, to watch the game, as the restaurant & rooms don't have TV's. What Stars!! Then out of the blue, Clayton offered for us all to go to their own home the following morning to watch the game after we'd had our breakfast - oh my word, we were so suprised & so humbled that they would do that! So once the extremely delicious breakfast was finished - there's a huge variety including continental (which is included in the price of your room) < fresh omelettes & full English breakfast & all sorts inbetween - we headed over to Rachel & Clayton home. Clayton took myself & my partner & one of our friends in his car & the others rode there on their bikes following Clayton! Their gorgeous home was opened to 16 bikers without blinking an eye & we were made comfortable with tea & coffee in abundance to watch the game. Afterwards, he took us all back to collect our bikes & belongings. To say these guys went above & beyond throughout our whole time on every single visit, is the understatement of the Century! I must add that the beds are incredibly comfortable!!! Also, these guys offer landscaped garden spa facilities, including a saltwater pool, jacuzzi, sauna & aromatherapy treatment. There is also a Gallery which is well worth a look at! It's fully airconditioned with underfloor heating & fee Wifi. So, as you can see, this is an all round fantastic place to visit - & trust me, you WON'T want to leave!!! Thank you to you all Rachel, Clayton & Amanda, you are all truly amazing!!!!! We will be back!!! xxx
