Sobre Vale do Anhangabaú
In the heart of São Paulo, located between the famous Viadutos do Chá and Santa Ifigênia, it houses the City Hall building, the Municipal Theater, the Post Office Building and other classic buildings.
The name is due to the river that today runs under the asphalt in this region, meaning, in Tupi, "water of the evil spirit", most likely named that way by the Indians in some occurrence with the pioneers. Until 1822 it was a farm belonging to the Barão de Itapetininga, where people traded tea and watercress. With the construction of the viaduct of tea, the farms in the region were expropriated, and later the place had the canalization of the river and landscaping, becoming a park in 1910. Currently, it is the stage of cultural events of great proportions, such as the Virada Cultural . It recently underwent a major renovation, transforming the space completely!
