Sobre Farol Da Barra, Santo Antônio da Barra Fort and Bahia Nautical Museum
Considered the oldest lighthouse in America, the work is a tourist and historical landmark in Bahia. It is part of the architectural complex of the Forte de Santo Antônio da Barra military complex, which also houses the Nautical Museum. The fort, the first in the country, was built in 1534. In May 2011, a visit to the lighthouse was opened, with a height of 22m. Climbing 82 steps, you can have an even more beautiful view of the Bay of All Saints, from above the lighthouse. The visit also allows you to discover the maritime-themed exhibition, which tells a little about the history of Brazil from the sea.
The place is also the most traditional box in the city to watch the sunset. The lawn beside and behind the fort is crowded. Price (2022): R$15/full, half price R$7.50 (students and seniors) and courtesy under 7 years old.
COVID Report: Farol da Barra and its Nautical Museum were recently reopened from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm with capacity restriction, without guided tours. More up-to-date information see https://www.museunauticodabahia.org.br/informacoes-noticias/
